We have collected some interesting and helpful information about Kranjska Gora and its surroundings in one place.
1.) PARKING
Parking lots in Kranjska Gora, by Lake Jasna, in village Podkoren, Rateče, in Gozd Martuljek, Planica and Vršič are chargeable. You can pay with an SMS message, the EASY PARK application, and in some places are also parking automats. You can also buy a daily parking ticket, which costs 10 EUR. You can only park for free in public parking lots with a blue zone. You can leave the car in such parking for up to 2 hours without paying, but you must set the clock on the armature.

2.) SHOPS, RESTAURANTS, AND BARS
Mercator shop is located in the center of Kranjska Gora – 5 minutes by car from Podkoren. There are actually two Mercator shops in Kranjska Gora. The closest major shopping center is in the city of Jesenice.
Kranjska Gora and its surroundings offer quite a few restaurants. So here, we can find many restaurants with local offers, pizzerias, mountain huts, and log cabins. In principle, there is something for everyone, but the emphasis is still on meat and meat dishes.
There is only one restaurant in the village Podkoren – Hotel & Restaurant Vitranc, which is famous for its traditional Serbian grilled food.

3.) CYCLE ROUTES
In Kranjska Gora many rent trekking, mountain or electric bikes: Intersport Bernik, Bike Kekec, Sporti Bar JB Center, Koflersport, … Some also organize guided tours.
Kranjska Gora is connected to the city Jesenice, village Mojstrana, Podkoren, and other villages by a well-maintained bicycle path. For example, in Podkoren, you join the bicycle trail at the Podkoren ski resort. But if you don’t have your bike, you can only rent one in Kranjska Gora.
Otherwise, you can also go on a cycling trip to the Italian border and further into Italy. Or you can turn to Vršič, the Tamar Valley, and peak Tromeja. It depends on your wishes and capabilities.

4.) TOURIST ATTRACTIONS AND SPORTS ACTIVITIES
Kranjska Gora is home to many natural and cultural attractions. There you can also do a lot of sports activities. Below are some examples of what you can see and do:
– Nature reserve Zelenci
– Lake Jasna
– Planica Nordic Center & Zipline Planica
– Russian chapel on Vršič
– Kekec’s land for children
– Peričnik waterfall
– Martuljek waterfalls
– Prisank window and the “Pagan Girl”
– Radovna Valley with Lake Kreda
– Mountain museum in Mojstrana
– Summer sledding at the Kranjska Gora ski resort
– Winter skiing
– Cross-country skiing on groomed trails
– Ice land Mojstrana

5.) MOUNTAIN PEAKS AND VALLEYS
– VALLEYS: Tamar, Krnica, Kot, Krma, and Vrata. The Vrata valley is most visited, where an asphalt road also leads, but the parking lot fills up very quickly! In this case, you can only see the Vrata valley on foot, by bicycle, or by public bus. Parking outside the designated parking spaces is strictly prohibited, and you may be fined.
– EASY MARKED AND UNMARKED ROUTES: Tromeja, Slemenova Špica, Visoki Mavrinc, Dovška Baba, Ciprnik, Trupejevo Poldne, Vošca, Golica, Vršič, … These are more accessible marked or unmarked routes, which are also suitable for children and puppies.
– DIFFICULT MARKED ROUTES: Prisojnik, Razor, Škrlatica, Triglav, Mala Mojstrovka, Bovški Gamsovec, Jalovec, Rjavina, Cmir, … These are all very demanding tours for only those with experience. Triglav is indeed the highest Slovenian peak, extremely tempting and well secured with wedges and steel cables, but it should not be underestimated under any circumstances. Good luck!
